Katie Ledecky Begins Olympic Swimming Career with Fastest Time in 400 Free Prelims

American Swimmer Wins First Medal at Paris Olympics

Ledecky's Technique Credit to Andrew Nesty's Coaching

Katie Ledecky, the most decorated female swimmer in Olympic history, has made a strong start to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. The American swimmer posted the fastest time in the 400-meter freestyle prelims, edging out rival Ariarne Titmus of Australia.

Ledecky, who won her first medal of the Games with a bronze in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay, has been working under the tutelage of Andrew Nesty in Gainesville, Florida. She credits Nesty with helping her refine her technique, which has made her even faster in the water.

The victory is a promising sign for Ledecky, who is aiming to add to her impressive medal count in Paris. The American swimmer has won 10 Olympic medals, including six golds, and is one of the most successful athletes in the history of the Games.

Ledecky will be back in the pool on Tuesday for the semifinals of the 400-meter freestyle. She is the heavy favorite to win the gold medal and will be looking to continue her dominance in the event.
